Eliza West the star Hawthorn midfielder, who was pivotal in the Melbourne Demons AFLW 2022 Season 7 Premiership sits down with Rick to chat in this absolute cracker of an episode. Eliza made her way into professional footy via a different pathway then most. Her childhood consisted of competing endlessly with her 2 older brothers and playing above her age group on the basketball and netball courts as footy was deemed to be played by the boys. She dominated on the hardwood and was good enough to be offered a scholarship and play 4 years of D1 Basketball for Utah State in the USA. This is as elite as it gets! The point guard then returned home to Victoria and was identified as a potential cross coder by the Casey Demons VFLW program. But the fact she could barely kick a footy meant she had some work to do!! And she got to work, the rest as they say is history!!!
